Remodeling a fur coat means transforming an existing piece into something that truly looks like you. Your mother’s coat, the one you wore 20 years ago, or the one that has been sitting in your closet for years: as long as the skins are good, we can give your coat a second wind.
Our team of designers guides you in choosing the model by evaluating the options available to you. We will tell you honestly what is possible, according to your tastes and your budget.
Since 1958, Samuel Manteaux has carried out more than 100 remodelings a year in its Saint-Jérôme workshop. Pattern, fitting, cutting and finishing: everything is done on site.

Two fittings included
After taking your measurements, a fabric mock-up is made to ensure a precise fit of the cut, then the fur shell of the coat is fitted to validate the result before the final finishing. Every change is validated with you.
Complete workshop on site
Pattern, fitting, cutting, cleaning and finishing are all done in our workshop. Your coat never leaves our hands.
2 to 3-year warranty included
Every remodeling is covered by a warranty. If a touch-up is needed within 2 or 3 years of your remodeling, our team takes care of it at no charge until you are completely satisfied.
How it works
Make an appointment
Make an appointment online or by phone to have access to a designer who guides you throughout the remodeling process. This person will also be your dedicated contact for all your requests or questions.
Consultation and made-to-measure pattern
You choose the new model with a designer who takes your measurements on site and notes all the details discussed together to create the new pattern for your coat.
Two fittings for an adjusted result
The first fitting with a fabric mock-up is essential before making your coat. It validates all the details and adjustments of the new pattern. A second fitting with the fur shell of the coat confirms its final look before finishing.
Delivery with warranty
Your new coat is handed to you with a 2 to 3-year warranty. If a touch-up is needed afterward, our team takes care of it at no charge.

Questions and answers
What is the difference between remodeling and making a coat?
Remodeling starts from an existing coat: the original piece is taken apart to create a new one on a different pattern, adapted to your measurements and your tastes. Making a coat generally uses new skins.
Can I just have one alteration instead of redoing the whole coat?
It is sometimes possible to modify only the sleeves, the collar or the length of the coat. Our team will suggest the best option for your needs during the appointment.
How much does remodeling a fur coat cost?
The cost varies depending on the type of fur, the condition of the coat and the complexity of the new model. That is why we offer a free evaluation before any commitment: our team examines your coat and gives you a precise estimate. No surprises.
Is there a warranty on the work done?
Yes. Every remodeling is covered by a 2 to 3-year warranty. If a touch-up is needed during that period, our team does it at no extra charge, until you are completely satisfied.
Can a wool coat be remodeled?
No. Our workshop works with fur, leather and lambskin. For a wool coat, we can make some minor adjustments, such as shortening the sleeves, but not a complete remodeling.
Do I need an appointment for the free evaluation?
An appointment is recommended to guarantee the availability of a designer. You can make an appointment online or call us at 450 681-1618. The evaluation is free and comes with no commitment at all.
How long will my coat last after a remodeling?
A well-maintained fur coat can last another 25 to 30 years after a remodeling. Regular maintenance, especially annual cleaning and storage in suitable conditions, is the main variable. Our team can guide you on best practices during the consultation.
